Is dental treatment in Turkey safe? A 10-point checklist

Yes — dental treatment in Turkey is safe when it is done at a clinic licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Health, by named and qualified dentists, with documented materials, a realistic timeline and a written plan before you travel. Problems usually come from clinics that skip these steps. Use the checklist below to compare clinics, including ours.

The 10-point checklist

  1. Health tourism licence. Clinics treating international patients in Türkiye need the Health Tourism Authorization Certificate of the Ministry of Health. Ask for the certificate number.
  2. Named dentists. You should know who will treat you, with their title and specialty, before you travel.
  3. A specialist for surgery. Implants, bone grafts and sinus lifts should be planned by a dentist trained in surgery, such as a periodontist or oral surgeon.
  4. A written plan and price. Number of teeth, treatment for each tooth, materials, number of visits, days needed and total price — in writing.
  5. Documented brands. The implant brand and ceramic type are named in the plan and in your final report.
  6. A realistic timeline. Be careful with offers of final implant crowns in a single short trip without a 3D scan, or a full set of veneers in two days.
  7. The least invasive option first. A good dentist tells you when whitening, bonding or a few veneers are enough instead of crowning healthy teeth.
  8. Medical history questions. Expect questions about medication, diabetes, smoking and allergies — a clinic that asks nothing is a warning sign.
  9. Aftercare and guarantee in writing. What happens if something chips or an implant fails after you fly home?
  10. Real reviews. Read recent Google reviews and look at before-and-after photos of real patients, not stock images.

Red flags

  • A price for “a Hollywood smile” before anyone has seen your teeth
  • Pressure to decide or pay before you receive a written plan
  • No name of the dentist, only a sales agent
  • Recommending crowns on every tooth when your teeth are healthy
  • No X-ray or 3D scan before implant surgery

Why Türkiye is a common choice

Türkiye combines university-trained dentists, modern digital equipment and lower running costs than Western Europe, which is why treatment costs less. Licensing for health tourism adds inspections of hygiene, patient rights and interpreting services. The difference between a good and a bad experience is the clinic you choose, not the country.
